Reminiscing
The year has come to a close already--I can't believe it! As I think back over the last 9 months, here are some things I have learned:
#1 You can sit sideways on a Honda (4-wheeler) (do so especially if you have a heavy backpack...otherwise the results may be catastrophic i.e. falling on your back in front of everyone)
#2 Raised eyebrows means yes
#3 Scrunched nose means no
#4 Don't flush t.p. down the toilet
#5 When walking out of town, always walk with company or a gun
#6 Don't take anything personally
#7 "Hooking" is fishing
#8 Basketball is life
#9 "flick" means the same as "swish" (in basketball terms)
#10 Only one Wal-mart in Anchorage has a bush-mail checkout
#11 A tunnel hood is a must-have in the arctic
#12 kumaqs=lice and it spreads like wild fire up here
#13 It's common practice for kids of all ages to stay up all night when summer nears and the sun is up
#14 Complete darkness all day is weird
#15 coke = frozen, raw fish
#16 muktuk = whale blubber
*both are aquired tastes I believe
#17 Getting to know the kids outside of school helps immensely
#18 For that matter, letting them know you outside of school is helpful
